ISTANBUL - The capital of empires... The city that dominated continents... The cradle of civilization... The meeting point of cultures and civilizations... These are some of the thousands of phrases that describe Istanbul. Yet neither words nor any amount of reading or listening are sufficient to truly describe and become familiar with the city. Only when you walk along its historic streets, when you see with your own eyes the architectural masterpieces of Byzantine and Ottoman Empires in their original setting, when you enjoy the panoramic views of its unique location, and when you start to explore its mystical beauties – only then will you begin to discover, and to fall in love with Istanbul. Istanbul is the most developed and largest city of Turkey, and the latest discoveries indicate that the history of human habitation goes back 400,000 years ago.

Comsoft to modernise Egypt’s AIS systems PDF Print E-mail

Comsoft has received a contract from Egypt's National Air Navigation Services (NANSC) to modernise Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) in the country's air traffic control (ATC) centres and airports.

As part of the contract, Comsoft will install its CADAS Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) system, which has successfully completed factory acceptance tests performed by NANSC's AIS team.

In the initial phase, Comsoft will install the AIM system at Cairo Air Navigation Center (CANC), which can be accessed remotely by Egypt's five major airports, including Aswan, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Alexandria through the internet.

During the second phase of the project, the remaining nine domestic airports in Egypt will be linked to the main AIM system.

NANSC project director Mahmoud Ramadan said that COMSOFT and NANSC have been working together since 2008.

"Comsoft will install the AIM system at Cairo Air Navigation Center (CANC), which can be accessed remotely by Egypt's five major airports."

"Upgrading our AIM systems is vital for the long-term, sustainable air traffic growth that is forecast for Egypt," Ramadan said.

Compatible with latest standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and EUROCONTROL, the new system is expected to serve existing and future digital notices to airmen (NOTAM) through the use of AIXM 5.1 database.

The database incorporates flight plan management and briefing applications in addition to the aeronautical information publication (AIP), which allow users to access appropriate aeronautical data.

The contract also includes delivery of COMSOFT Internet Security Appliance (CISECA), which uses a layered security system to protect vital AIM operations and applications from illegal access and malicious infringements, as well as ensuring secured IP and web-based communications.

Comsoft has recently delivered FPL 2012 conversion solution to NANSC, in addition to the earlier installation of its aeronautical message handling system (AHMS).

Zimbabwe Picks COMSOFT AIM Solution PDF Print E-mail

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has awarded COMSOFT a contract for the delivery and installation of a fully integrated AIM solution in line with the latest AIXM 5.1 standard. The system will cover the handling of national aeronautical AIXM, NOTAM and FPL data including eAIP and chart production.

The new CADAS AIM system will be fully compatible with “ICAO’s roadmap AIS to AIM” which details the transition requirements for air navigation service providers. The system’s unique AIXM 5.1 database enables the seamless integration of other AIM applications like the eAIP production, supporting the latest EUROCONTROL eAIP 2.0 standard, or the charting tool ACCENT for a data driven and automated chart production. Equipped with this innovative database, the AIM system in Harare will be optimally prepared for the support of future Digital NOTAM applications.

Upon commissioning, Zimbabwe will not only be the first country of the South African Development Community to support AIXM 5, but will operate the region’s most modern AIM system setting the benchmark for quality of ATCrelated data.

The new AIM components will be integrated with existing AIS products of the Zimbabwean air navigation service provider who has been operating a COMSOFT system for NOTAM briefing and flight plan management since 2009. Even more time has elapsed since the installation of the first COMSOFT messaging solution in 1997. All systems have met the customer’s expectations entirely prompting CAAZ to put COMSOFT in charge of modernising their ATC
infrastructure.

In the process of the installation all related systems will be upgraded to meet ICAO’s flight plan changes in November 2012.
